The Vessel Collection

Origins

The Vessel Collection

Through cavernous landscapes, eroded earth, and undiscovered ruins, these materials tell the story of the earth. They have witnessed bygone eras, bore silent testimony to centuries of changing cultures and evolving traditions. From wind-sculpted sandstone formations to shards of baked clay from ancient vases, these materials embody the passage of time.

Glass

A temperature-sensitive material, grains of sand morph into delicate vessels that hold the stories of the land in their cavities – a true representation of the relationship between being and nature. An alchemy of craft, each piece tells the narrative of the place it was sourced, the person who formed it, and the home it finds.

Beautifully told traditions are woven together with sustainably sourced materials to create carpets that share their origin stories. The complexity of these weaves and the skill with which they are treated make weaving one of the core techniques used throughout our carpet collections.

Paper-Mâché

Using recycled paper and cardboard, these delicate vessels are formed by transforming materials into different states. Sourced in Jodhpur, raw materials are ground into a textured paste and moulded into architectural sculptures.

Sandstone

Sourced from the deltas of Central Java, these vessels have been carefully sculpted from sandstone. A natural sedimentary rock that has been formed over millions of years, this raw material is preserved and treated to uphold its innate structure and characteristic texture.

LOREM IPSUM

“Understanding the vast histories and expansive landscapes that these raw materials are sourced from brings new meaning to what a vessel can hold.” - Chris Weylandt
